THE OMEGA ELEVEN #1 and MONSTROUS #2

Created by James Aquilone

Doctor Omega, the inspiration for Doctor Who, in his first comic book series! In THE MERLIN JOB — the first issue in the epic five-issue OMEGA ELEVEN series — Doctor Omega and his companion, 14-year-old Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger, travel to Camelot to steal the Philosopher's Stone from Merlin—and things go catastrophically wrong. MONSTROUS #2, a digest-size horror comic magazine, features an 18-page story called "Rise of the Morlocks" by James Aquilone and J.K. Woodward. It's about Morlocks living underneath the NYC subway system in the 1970s! The issue, featuring a cover by Russ Braun, also includes a new horror story by Exorcist's House author Nick Roberts and a reprint of H.G. Wells' first time travel story, "The Chronic Argonauts."

13 days ago – Fri, Oct 18, 2024 at 03:28:21 PM

We're nearly there. Zac is putting the finishing touches on The Omega Eleven #1 and the comic should be heading to the printer by the end of the month.

"Rise of the Morlocks," which is now a 22-page comic, is finished! That comic will be in Monstrous #2. Below are some looks at our hero, intrepid reporter Marcus Slade. I'm loving J.K. Woodward's art. He's at New York Comic Con this weekend. If you're going, say hi.

And speaking of intrepid reporters, my new Kolchak campaign, Kolchak Meets the Classic Monsters, launched this week and is setting records.

If you haven't heard, we have three comics, plus a hardcover collection...

  • ISSUE #1 - Kolchak Meets the Werewolf and Count Crowley by David Dastmalchian and Lukas Ketner. Cover by Matt Wagner.
  • ISSUE #2 - Kolchak Meets Frankenstein by Steve Niles and George Quadros. Cover by Russ Braun.
  • ISSUE #3 - Kolchak Meets Dracula by Rodney Barnes and Alex Lins. Cover by Colton Worley.

Trading Cards Are Here! Surveys Going Out!
about 1 month ago – Wed, Sep 25, 2024 at 12:42:04 PM

The rest of the surveys are going out today from BackerKit. So look for that in your inbox. And if you don't see it, please check your Spam folder.

For newbies, the surveys are how we gather your info like addresses and shirt sizes. The surveys also give you an opportunity to add more merch to your order.

If you are using Kickstarter through your Apple ID, you may have trouble receiving the link. Let me know if this is the case, and we'll get it to you.

It will still be a few weeks before I received the comic from the printer, but in the meantime, if you order a T-shirt and fill out the survey, you'll get the shirts right now.

We have received the trading cards and they look amazing! You may have noticed the design is a bit different. We had to make modifications to fit it on the card. Zac has the sketch cards and is working on them. So you'll get these 5 cards plus the sketch card.

And this is the autograph card...

The comic is almost done! We're still on pace to deliver the book on time — and maybe...just maybe a bit early! Zac is hard at work churning out the pages and they look amazing. Here's a look at some uncolored pages and panels.

And here's a look at the back of the trading cards. I'm very pleased at how they came out. If you didn't pick up the cards, you'll have a chance to add them to your order when surveys go out in the next few weeks

Doctor Omega at SDCC! New Rise of the Morlocks Pages!
3 months ago – Wed, Jul 24, 2024 at 03:34:51 PM

Who's going to San Diego Comic Con this week?

If you are, you can pick up a 12-page preview of The Omega Eleven #1. A limited number of copies will be available from artist Zac Atkinson at the GenSeven booth (4804). And while you’re there pick up some GenSeven comics.

We're nearly done with the comic and are still on pace to deliver all the rewards in a few months.

Here's a closer look at the splash page that opens the comic. Zac really outdid himself. I'm thinking of making this a print.

And Monstrous #2 is also close to being done. Here's a page from "Rise of the Morlocks," written by me with art by J.K. Woodward. This shows reporter Marcus Slade investigating the rumor of big hairy creatures living in the New York City subway.

New Omega Eleven and Rise of the Morlocks Pages!
4 months ago – Tue, Jul 02, 2024 at 11:49:57 AM

Things are progressing well with The Omega Eleven #1 and Monstrous #2 — and both are looking great.

I'm hoping to send out surveys in the next week or two.

Zac is about halfway done with Omega. Here's an uncolored page with Omega and the Knights of Camelot

And here's a page from my story "Rise of the Morlocks," the comic that will be in Monstrous #2. Art by J.K. Woodward. That's our protagonist reporter Marcus Slade investigating the strange goings on in the New York City subway

Speaking of intrepid reporters... if you haven't heard, Monstrous Books has acquired the rights to Kolchak: The Night Stalker, and our first project is a new illustrated edition of the novel that spawned the cult TV series!

KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER NOVEL DELUXE, LIMITED EDITION

The book will have essays by Late Night With the Devil star David Dastmalchian, Killadelphia creator Rodney Barnes, and The Night Stalker Companion writer Mark Dawidziak.

Russ Braun (The Boys, Swamp Thing) did the cover and six interior illustrations.

And who knows—we may find Kolchak cross paths with Doctor Omega one day.

Check out the project here.
